Red Wings cap homestand vs. Blues

Hockey Betting Lines

12/23/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - After a brief stumble, the Red Wings are back to their dominating form at home. Detroit ends a four-game residency tonight versus the St. Louis Blues at Joe Louis Arena.

Detroit dropped a 3-2 test to Colorado last Monday to begin the homestand, snapping a five-game home winning streak. However, the Red Wings have rebounded with back-to-back six-goal games to improve to 11-3-2 as the host this season.

After notching a 6-0 win versus San Jose last Thursday, the Red Wings posted a 6-4 victory against the Los Angeles Kings Saturday. It marked the fifth time Detroit has netted six goals in a game this season, with four of those instances coming at home.

Dan Cleary scored the game-winning goal with 1:34 remaining in the third period and Jiri Hudler and Pavel Datsyuk both registered a goal and an assist for the Red Wings, who have won seven of their last nine games and are averaging four goals per game at home this year. Nicklas Lidstrom collected three helpers and Ty Conklin made 22 saves to earn his 10th win of the season.

Conklin has been in net for each of the last two games with Chris Osgood battling a strained groin and now flu-like symptoms as well. He has two shutouts and 10 wins in 14 starts this season.

Following this contest the Red Wings, who lead the Central Division by five points over Chicago, hit the road for two straight.

After halting a five-game losing streak with a home win over Minnesota on Saturday, the Blues fell right back into the loss column with a 6-3 setback to Boston on Sunday. Jay McClement, Brad Winchester and Yan Stastny scored in the Blues' first home loss to Boston since 1995.

Manny Legace returned from a four-game absence due to a mild concussion to make 24 saves in beating Minnesota, but was tagged for five goals on 23 shots Sunday before being lifted in the third period. Chris Mason made five saves over the final 20 minutes.

Legace is 7-8-0 with a 2.78 goals against average against the Red Wings, who he played for from 1999-2000 through the 2005-06 season. He won a Stanley Cup Championship with them in 01-02.

St. Louis has dropped its last five games on the road -- all in regulation -- and is 5-10-1 as the visiting team this year.

The Blues lost a 4-3 home decision to the Red Wings on October 22, their fifth loss in the last eight meetings. St. Louis has won three of its last five in Detroit, though.
